time. love. & peonies.
People who love peonies LOVE peonies. I know that I'm not the only one to have chosen my wedding date to coordinate with their estimated bloom time. Peonies are a reminder of people we’ve loved, springs remembered. All winter seemingly nothing is there, then every spring they show themselves again - strong, graceful, romantic, timeless - blooming only a few weeks, but enduring decades. My mother has a yard full of them, planted by my great-grandmother or perhaps someone living there before. To dig up an established peony is to witness a storehouse for survival in those deep, heavy tubers; strength below the surface bringing fabulous beauty above. Those peonies will be there when my daughter is grown. Timeless.
